To His Coy Mistress Essay: Imagery, Symbolism, and Descriptions

Symbolism, Symbolism, and Descriptions in To His Coy Mistress Andrew Marvell in his sonnet depicts a youngster persuading his reasonable special lady to discharge herself to living in the here and now.â He does this by separating the sonnet into three fundamentally unique stanzas.â The primary sets aside sufficient effort to portray extraordinary sentiments of adoration for a youngster, and how he wishes he could show it.â time is grown early yet not fully.â The subsequent refrain is then used to show how time is quickly advancing in manners, for example, the blurring of magnificence and death.â The third verse presses the inquiry to the youthful escort; will she offer herself to the young fellow and to life?â Although every refrain utilizes various pictures, they all pass on a similar subject of making every second count and not letting time pass is seen all through. Marvell utilizes symbolism, imagery, and awesome depictions all through the poem.â Each refrain is powerful and streams easily.â Rhyming couplets are seen at the c losures of each line, which enables the sonnet to peruse smoothly.â  â â â â â â â â â â Marvell utilizes numerous pictures that fill in as instruments to communicate how he wishes to cherish his special lady in the principal verse of the poem.â From line 1 to 20 Marvell tells his escort how he wishes he had constantly on the planet to adore her.â In the absolute first line Marvell raises the focal point of time, â€Å"Had we yet world enough and time/This demureness, woman, were no crime†.â The subsequent line shows the contention that the creator is looking in the sonnet, her coyness.â Marvell proceeds from these underlying lines to mention to his fancy woman what he would do in the event that he had enough time.â In lines, three and four Marvell talks of â€Å"sitting down† to â€Å"think† where they will stroll on their â€Å"long love’s day†.â All of these word... ... before their â€Å"quaint respect goes to dust†.  â â â â â â â â â â Andrew Marvell effectively expounds on a sensitive subject without putting on a show of being messy or discourteous to the subject of sexuality.â Each verse conveys an alternate perspective on same subject.â The manner in which Marvell talks in the principal refrain shows that he isn't being reckless, that he cherishes his mistress.â He makes a feeling of agelessness and afterward in the second refrain he clears that away and presents passing as terrifying yet unavoidable.â He understands how valuable time is and is viable in persuading his special lady of this reality as well.â The last lines leave the peruser with the picture of this couple vanquishing and exploiting time by making the sun run.â This sonnet would not be what it is without the nitty gritty symbolism, imagery, and allegories that Marvell applied to each stanza.â â â

ADVICE THAT CAN MAKE YOU A BETTER CEOLeadership can be challenging, and there are those who tend to make it more challenging by overlooking the simple basics of leadership.Besides reading books about leadership, following these seven pieces of advice about leaders hip, can help you to become a better CEO. Endeavor to make the life of your team easier, rather than hardOne of the CEOs roles is to increase and improve both the efficiency and effectiveness of their employees to enable them to perform better. However, adding unwanted bureaucracies, asking for endless reports, and holding long and tedious meetings which can be replaced by emails does not fit in this category.Don’t tell your team how to do their workCEOs are not expected to be the experts in everything.Actually, the only thing expected from leaders is to show expertise in their leadership and get only the best out of their employees. One way to do that is to tell your employees the things you want and your expected outcomes and then let them decide how they can achieve the objectives. If employees feel that their boss is undercutting their sense of self-worth and value, they find it hard to follow the instructions issued to them.Do not micromanage your teamGood CEOs know that microma nagement kills productivity. In addition to that, once you develop a habit for it, no one will be willing to work for you, and you will end up losing many good employees. Therefore, you must always give your employees freedom and space if you want them to succeed.Yes, it is OK to check up on them, but that doesnt have to be every 10 minutes. You will be responsible for your employee’s failure if you hire employees who do not have the time, skills and tools to do the job properly. As a CEO, it is your responsibility to ensure that your employees are placed in positions which will allow them to be successful. If an employee lacks some essential qualifications, then do not be afraid of addressing it.Nobody will accept accountability if he or she feels like they cannot do the job, or they lack the things they need for them to do the job. If that is the situation of your employees, then you have not done your job as a leader.Don’t punish everybody who makes a mistakeMistakes happen, and a good CEO should be able to distinguish whether the errors were because of negligence or not. If the mistakes happened as a result of negligence, then it can be appropriate if you take action. However, if you want your employees to be productive, you should create an environment where they can try out new things without fearing punishments. If you fail to do that, you can hinder risk-taking and innovations, which are key to a company’s growth.Emphasize on a good work-life balanceLeaders should always take care of their employees well-being and health. Therefore, you should monitor excessive working hours and weekend working. Be careful not to create plans which depend on evening and weekend working. It’s always a good thing to encourage your employees to go home when it starts getting late, particularly if you are leaving the office.Nothing builds bitterness among the employees like the CEO leaving early, and the team is forced to work late for them to meet deadlines.Your employe es will always appreciate you if you take care of their work-life balance, instead of taking them for granted.Encourage your employees whenever they do goodRecognizing the success of your employees is one of the best things you can ever do as a leader. First, it will cost you nothing, its not hard to do, and it motivates your employees to work harder.Employees need to feel like they are doing a good job and recognition helps them to know that. Never wait until your employees have done extraordinary things for you to praise them. You should begin by recognizing their efforts as that leads you to recognize their bigger and better achievements. You should do a major part of the job if you want to get most of the creditOne thing which destroys the relationship between CEOs and their employees is stealing the credit for a job they didnt do.Even though stealing might sound absurd, thats how your employees will view it, and it can damage your relationship with them.Remember, being a leader d oesn’t make you entitled to the largest share of your employees credit. THINGS FOR A GOOD CEO TO LEARN OR IMPROVEWhen it comes to management and leadership, it is good if you possess exceptional personal qualities like humility, integrity, and authenticity among others. But, with all these qualities, you will be required to achieve results.Everyone desiring to lead should understand that results determine success and for this to be possible, a CEO must inspire his or her employees to achieve great things. So, how can a good CEO achieve that?EngageIf you want to achieve great and amazing results, you must keep your employees engaged. You should know that if your employees are not involved, they will just be turning up and not doing as much as they could if they were engaged.CEO cannot support his or her employees via email or from his/her private office. You cannot engage your employees unless you are engaged. Therefore, a CEO is required to get out of the boardroom, show his or her en thusiasm and passion, clarify and explain the purpose of the objectives and align the desires and goals of the employees with the companys goals.ExciteOnce you engage your employees, you should plan how to excite them. It’s the desire of every employee to work in a successful company and feel like they are always doing a great job.So, if you can show your employees how they will succeed, they will always be motivated and ready to put in more effort to achieve their goals and objectives.Employees dont fear working hard, but they fear to fail. Showing your employees how they can achieve their success will boost their confidence and believe that they will succeed. This can be a great inspiration to the employees. Engaged and excited employees make a powerful team, which can achieve incredible results. But, the employees need empowerment to achieve their results.EmpowerEmpowered employees usually take ownership, and in case things start going south, they find a way to ensure that the des ired results are achieved. Many times, leaders want to be in control of everything, to the extent that they want to be involved in everything, such as approving even the smallest changes in the company. These leaders obstruct and limit the potential of the employees. If you want to empower your employees, you should allow them to have the flexibility they need to make the required adjustments in case things dont turn out as expected. You should delegate some of the control you possess, but that should happen with clear boundaries. That assists the employees to understand when they are required to make decisions, and when they are needed to ask for your approval. The more you empower your employees, the more they become committed. When it comes to empowerment, you should understand that it is a delicate balancing act. But, you can become better with practice, and your employees will always appreciate it.Learn how to say ‘noBeing a CEO, you must learn how to say no. Whether you are lead ing a small or big industry, it can be challenging to turn down opportunities which can help you to grow…or will slow you down. However, you must learn to choose which opportunities to accept and which to turn down if you want to succeed as a leader. How to pitchAt times opportunities won’t come knocking, and you will be forced to go out and look for opportunities. Therefore, you must ensure that you have the skills to make a case for your organization to outsiders. That should be whether you are asking the board of directors to approve something important for the organization or looking for people to invest in your company. The ability to read financialsAs a CEO, it is essential that you possess the ability to read financial statements on your own.Failure to possess those skills can be disastrous since you can easily fail to realize when the companys money is being embezzled. These skills can be learned, and it can be even better to learn the basics of finance. How to handle criticism CEOs are usually the main target for criticism from their employees and other people outside their organization. If you want to be a good CEO, you must be able to handle criticisms, and not take things personally. THINGS FOR A GOOD CEO TO DO EVERY DAYDo you want your organization to grow and thrive? Of course, you do, so these are some things which you can do every day, and can really help you to become better as a CEO. These things include:Educate yourselfVery few people find time to read after graduating from college. But, research has revealed that the world’s greatest leaders read regularly and they are always learning and discovering new things. As a CEO, you should know that educating yourself is very important to keep up with changes in the industry, especially if you want to climb up the ladder faster.Have a visionIt is the CEO’s job to set the company’s vision.Where do you want the company to be in the next 10 years? Do you have any ideas about new strategies or products ? How do you see the culture of the company 6 months from today? It’s your sole responsibility as a CEO to set the company’s vision, and you cannot delegate this task to anyone else.Develop a strategyAs the companys CEO, you must assist in developing the strategies which will make the companys vision come true.Yes, you might not be competent in all the areas which require you to make strategies, but, you should be involved in the approval or planning process in an area which affects the companys long-term strategy.Regardless of your work experience, it is always a good idea to find someone to coach you through the challenges you encounter as a CEO.Monitor the company’s cashVery few CEOs handle the financials of their organizations by themselves.Usually, there is a CFO (Chef Finance Office), but it’s your job as a CEO to ensure that your company doesn’t run out of money.Always ensure that you check your financial records regularly. If you want to be a successful CEO, you mus t be aware of your company’s cash flow at all times. CONCLUSIONTo be clear, being a leader is not all about sitting down and issuing instructions. It’s all about getting out of your comfort zone and leading your team from the forefront. If you want to be a great leader and you lack some of the above skills, researching about personal improvement skills, seeking advice from a business mentor and even learning from other executives can help you to grow both professionally and personally.

The Factors that Affect Global Warming Free Essay Example, 1750 words

The world famous Coral Reefs have also been affected because of the high temperatures. The Coral Reefs are highly sensitive to the slightest changes in the water temperature and the increase in temperatures has led to bleaching, and even die off of this beautiful formation. There have been several factors that affect global warming. Under normal circumstances, the process that occurs as explained by Environment Canada is that, under normal circumstances, the Earth intercepts radiations from the sun. These radiations are the ones that help derive the climate and the weather of the Earth. What normally happens is that one-third of the radiations are reflected back into space, while the rest of it is absorbed by the various forms of life, land, ice and the atmosphere. Furthermore, the Earth re-radiates several long waves of radiation which are sent out into space. Of these, a part of it is absorbed as energy while the rest is left into space. This remission is referred to as Greenhou se Effect (Environment Canada, 2010). It is necessary for Earth to be able to maintain a balance between the amounts of radiation that is outgoing versus the amount of solar energy incoming. Changing the type and quantity of aerosols in the atmosphere affects the amount of solar energy reflected or absorbed (Environment Canada, 2010).

Health Complications Caused by Chlamydia in Males Free Essays

The topic I have chosen to link it with is Chlamydia n individuals aged 16-25. I am going to see whether the health promotion is used as a system of empowerment or a system of control. Main body Chlamydia can cause many complications in males and females, a few examples of these are; abdominal pain, pelvic pain, inability to get pregnant, potentially deadly octopi pregnancy, swelling in one/both testicles, fever and preventing a man from being able to father children states Brown, N (2013). We will write a custom essay sample on Health Complications Caused by Chlamydia in Males or any similar topic only for you Order Now The government are setting up ways to prevent this by setting up free Chlamydia screening to Individuals aged 0-25, this Is empowerment. By the government doing this It Is making Individuals take precautions and have regular checks. It also makes individuals respect themselves as when they know what Chlamydia can do to them they may also start using condoms to reduce the statistics of people contracting Chlamydia. It can also be seen as trying to control individuals as they are pushing/persuading them to use contraception and keep getting themselves checked out after a new sexual partner, this Is because If individuals start becoming aware and checking themselves, and also using protection It will reduce the amount of money the INS are spending on treatment, (1 tablet or a weeks worth of antibiotics). The individuals that don’t use protection or get checked out regularly could be having sexual relationships with others in the community and passing on the infection. This is why when individuals find out they have the infection they are advised to tell their past and current partners to get checked out as well. The antibiotics that are prescribed are the medical approach as It alms to prevent disease. This topic also links to behavior hang as it encourages individuals to adapt healthy behaviors, it is also a form of health education as the individuals are learning about Chlamydia also it is unlikely to be successful unless the individual is ready to take action. For example if an individual is not willing to use protection and/or get regular tests then there is not a lot that can be done, unless they decide to change their ways and try help themselves. The education approach also links to this as It alms to provide knowledge influence relating to Chlamydia as it aims to help individuals acquire the skills and inference to take greater control over their own health. For example if you are afraid of what your partner may say when you mention ‘protection’ you are less likely to mention it, also if you are afraid of the result you may get from the screening tests you may decide not to take one. Social change also has a link to Chlamydia as it aims to make the healthy choice the easy choice, some individuals may be too scared to get help, take tests or mention anything. This is where individuals need to start making the right choice. The media is an influence on Chlamydia as it encourages individuals viewing it to stay safe, look after yourselves and others so you don’t pass the infection around the community. The government are also an influence on Chlamydia as it is thanks to them that 16-25 year olds can gain free Chlamydia screening in clinics INS choices (2011). The critical understanding for health promotion is as follows, health promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve; health of people, communities and populations says Reuters, T (2013). It moves beyond a focus on individual behavior towards a wide range of social and environmental interventions. Interventions to help change behaviors and environments in ways that are conductive to health. The main goals of health promotion are to reduce health risks and optimize health and productively while lowering total health-related costs. At its best, worksheet health promotion creates a culture that fosters vitality, motivation and overall effectiveness of human capital says (Erickson,2006). The role and relevance of health promotion is in tackling the determinants of health, elate promotion will include combinations of the strategies namely developing personal skills, strengthening community action, and creating supportive environments for health, backed by healthy public policy. Health promotion is a powerfully relevant strategy for social development, in particular as an important set of strategies to address the factors influencing inequalities in health. Health promotion also brings together all the principles that underlie a series of strategies that seek to support conditions that allow populations to be healthy and to make lately choices. The range of strategies draws upon behavioral sciences, public health, education and communication, to name a few, and their respective methodologies says health promotion agency (2009). Empowerment or control Within this essay I have stated both ways in which it is empowerment and control. However both have equal entitlement; I am swayed to say I personally think that the health promotion is more a system of empowerment. This is because the government are setting up schemes that are free for individuals aged 16-25 to access. This shows he empowerment that is given to individuals to look after themselves without a cost. Also condoms are given for free at the clinic where the Chlamydia screening is taken states (Scholar, Abraham, Kook and Gilmore, 2004). This is empowering people to take precautions so that they don’t contract the infection. Another point is the media what can happen if they have the infection and don’t get checked out. Conclusion Throughout this essay I have shown how health promotion can be used as a system of empowerment and a system of control. I have linked it together with my chosen epic; I have also linked health promotion within my topic to the different approaches that I have learnt about within my lectures.
